Emergency Information & Personnel Management

When a life is on the line, critical information matters.

FDTag is being built to connect firefighter accountability tags to secure emergency medical information—helping authorized responders access the details a firefighter may be unable to share.

A separate Personnel Management module will help departments organize member files, applications, certifications, performance reviews, and discipline records. Choose either module or both through one department dashboard.

Built by a firefighter. Designed for the people who respond.

What FDTag Is Being Built To Do

Independent Modules. Choose what you need.

Two independent modules are planned for launch: Emergency Medical Information + Accountability Tags, and Personnel Management. Each is a separate subscription, so you only subscribe to the module you want—or choose both. All modules use the same department dashboard. Add another module later without reentering your roster.

Emergency Medical Information + Accountability Tags

Critical information for authorized responders.

Help responders access information a firefighter may be unable to share. Planned tools include:

  • Personalized accountability tags: department-branded tags with a firefighter’s photo, name, rank, identifier, and unique QR code.
  • Flexible templates and print-ready downloads: create personalized accountability tags in the size and format that fit your department’s needs.
  • Keep your existing cards: add an FDTag QR code sticker to the back of each existing accountability card to connect it to controlled emergency medical access.
  • Private emergency profiles: firefighter-maintained emergency contacts, allergies, medications, relevant conditions, and optional emergency instructions.
  • Controlled emergency access: authorized responders sign in and confirm an emergency purpose before protected information appears. Department administrators do not automatically receive medical access.
  • Secure QR links and activity logs: no medical data in the code, logged medical profile views, and individual revocation of lost tags. Profile updates will not require a new QR code.
  • One personal account: firefighters serving multiple departments maintain one private profile with department-specific tags.

Personnel Management

Your department’s people and records, organized.

Manage the member record from application through active service and archived history. Planned tools include:

  • Applications and onboarding: department-branded online applications, member-completed intake, fire service history, and staff review before approved information becomes a personnel record.
  • Standardized department forms: forms carrying your department’s logo for performance reviews, probationary evaluations, counseling, warnings, discipline, and corrective actions.
  • Certifications and qualifications: member-uploaded certificates and supporting documents for department review.
  • Roster management: ranks, stations, assignments, and personnel identifiers, plus CSV/Excel roster imports with validation and administrator review.
  • Personnel files and archives: department-owned records and historical files, including department-specific evaluations, discipline, and application notes.
  • Controlled staff access: department-assigned permissions and activity logs, with personnel records kept separate from private medical information.

Security is part of the design: FDTag is being developed with encryption, backups, recovery planning, and privacy controls.

How Emergency Medical Access Will Work

A familiar tag. A secure connection.

01

The department prepares a tag or QR sticker

An authorized administrator creates a department-branded accountability tag or adds an FDTag QR code sticker to the back of an existing card.

02

The firefighter keeps information current

Each firefighter maintains their own emergency contacts and private medical information through one personal account.

03

An authorized responder scans and signs in

Authorized responders sign in and confirm an emergency purpose before viewing the scanned firefighter’s protected information. Medical profile views are logged.

Built for departments

FDTag is being designed for volunteer, combination, and career departments as an annual subscription service with independently available modules for emergency medical information and accountability tags, and personnel management. Choose the tools your department needs through one shared dashboard.

The tag module will support established accountability practices.

Built for firefighters

Maintain one personal account, even if you work or volunteer with multiple departments. Keep your private emergency information current and, where departments subscribe to Personnel Management, complete personnel forms and share personal information and certificates for department review. Each department will manage its own personnel records and permissions, while your private medical information remains separate.

Built from Fire Service Experience

Developed by a 25-year fire service veteran and former Fire Chief.

FDTag is being developed by a firefighter with 25 years of volunteer service in a high-volume combination department, including service as its Fire Chief. That experience leading volunteer and career personnel in a demanding fire, rescue, and EMS environment shapes our approach to accountability, personnel management, and emergency information.

Our focus is practical tools that fit how fire departments actually operate.
